ALBERTA BUCKINGHAM SNELL, born July 28, 1918 in
Arkansas County, AR, passed from this life peacefully at her home Friday
night, July 25, 2008. Mrs. Snell was preceded in death by her husband,
Lester Snell, and by her grandmother, Carrie Buckingham, who raised her
after the untimely death of her parents. Mrs. Snell was a graduate of
Booker T. Washington High School. She is survived by two sons, Lester
Snell Jr. (Patricia) and Leroy Snell; one daughter, Celia Snell Moore
(LeRoy); ten grandchildren (Andrea, Leroy Jr., Robin, Jason, Lester III,
Brandon, Rachel, Kristen, Laura, and Justin), as well as a host of great
grandchildren, relatives and friends. Mrs. Snell was an active member of
Christ Missionary Baptist Church until her health failed. For many years
Mrs. Snell operated a kindergarten which helped to nurture many children
in her community as well as the surrounding area. She was also employed
by Shelby County (Hospital) where she served many years until her
retirement. Graveside Service will be held July 28 at eleven o'clock
(11:00) a.m. at Calvary Cemetery, 1663 Elvis Presley Blvd. Memphis, TN.
