CAROLYN YATES FARMER was
born July 30, 1949 to the late Mr. & Mrs. Peter and Patsy C.
Yates. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a
member of Hill Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She peacefully
crossed over and walked through the Pearly Gates on October 15,
2009. Carolyn retired from Shelby County Government in 1994
after working 25 years and upon untimely passing was an employee
for the City of Memphis Finance Department. She leaves a grand
legacy to cherish her memory. This legacy includes two children:
Derrick T. Yates, Sr. (Linda) and Precious R. Mitchell
(Frederick, Sr.); seven grandchildren: Crystal L. Yates,
Jamarious M. Crawford, Emmazia J. Mitchell, Jalicia M. Russell,
Shakeyla S. Farmer, Derrick T. Yates, Jr. and Fredrick
Mitchell,II; one great-granddaughter: Isabella Sinclair White;
two brothers: Lonnie R. Yates and Larry Yates; one sister:
Beverly Y. Thompson (Tony); two brothers who preceeded her in
death: Carl A. Yates and Charles E. Yates; one sister who
preceeded her in death: Jackie M. Yates. She also leaves a host
of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her
