ERNESTINE H. CARPENTER, 71, educator/instructor at Southwest Community College, retired principal, Carver High School, Secretary for NAACP, and member of New Life Missionary Baptist Church on Latham, died May 23, 2010 at Methodist University Hospital. Visitation will be 3-6 p.m., Friday, May 28 at E. H. Ford Mortuary. Services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 29 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Westwood, with burial to follow in New Park Cemetery. She leaves her husband, Ernest Carpenter; two sons, Eldred Carpenter and Ernest (Karla) Carpenter; one sister, Lucille Stallworth; three brothers, Samuel (Patricia) Hill, Henderson (Arnette) Hill and Nathaniel (Rachel) Hill; and five grandchildren, LaToya, Erica, Xiamara, Meghan and Carson.
