OBITUARIES

JOHN H. CANADA, 66, of Memphis, alumni of BTW Class of 1961, retired President Emeritus of UFCW Local 515 and former employee of Conagra Foods, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 29, 2009. He was the Past Financial Secretary Memphis AFL-CIO. He also was Past Poentate of Moolah #54 Shriners Temple and Past Worshiple Master of Eureka Lodge No. 3 and a Army veteran. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 2, with funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, April 3 at New Philadelphia Baptist Church located at 533 So. Mendenhall Rd., Memphis, TN. He is survived by his former wife, Dorothy H. Canada; daughter, Sharon C. Miller (Tracy); sons, John F. Canada, Steven Scruggs, Anthony Boyce Canada (Trina); sisters, Bertha Stewart (Tommie), Charlene C. Jeffries, Thelma C. Morman (Samuel), Alice C. Edington, Delores C. Harley (Fonnie) and Jacqueline C. Crawford. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel C. Partee Kerns and Claudia C. Shumpert; and one brother, Alexander Canada, Jr.; and 10 grandchildren.
