LOUISE BERNARD CHANDLER, 86, wife of the late
Howard Bonner Chandler, Sr., was born on September 21, 1922, to the late
Rev. David and Martha Gooden Bernard in Memphis, TN. She attended
Florida Street School and was a proud graduate of Booker T. Washington
High School. She was a lifelong member of Martin Temple Memorial CME
Church, where her mother was a charter member. As a young woman with an
inherited entrepreneurial spirit, she became proprietor of Lou�s Nest, a
unique restaurant serving a variety of cuisines located at Mississippi
and Provine. During this phase of her life, she married Howard Bonner
Chandler, Sr., and bore seven children who were the cherished focus of
her life. The ultimate �homemaker extraordinaire,� her generous and
magnetic spirit will be missed by a multitude of family and friends
including her children, Marsha C. Jenkins, Karen Chandler, Bonita
Chandler Iluobe, Debra C. Mitchell (Ernest), Howard Chandler, Jr.
(Tracy), Ann C. Bowman (Lewis) and Chrysti C. Burnett (Vincent); a
sister, Alice Bernard Harris; 14 grand-children and 8
great-grand-children. She was also an inspiration and surrogate mother
to her doting nieces and nephews whom she helped raise, goddaughters and
a multitude of devoted friends. Services will be held as follows:
Visitation - Sunday, January 25 from 4 -7 p.m., R.S. Lewis Funeral Home;
Funeral Services Monday, January 26 at noon, Martin Temple CME Church
