Margie Lewis Hooks died peacefully at home on July 16, 2009, surrounded by family. Mrs. Hooks was born to Moses and Carra Lewis on December 12, 1921, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and moved with her family to Memphis, TN at an early age. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington and Henderson Business College. She married Raymond L. Hooks on February 15, 1946, and they later moved to Chicago, IL where they raised four children. They returned to Memphis in 1969. After 21 years of service, Ms. Hooks retired from Memphis Housing Authority in 1991. She was a devoted member of Greater Middle Baptist Church. Mrs. Hooks is survived by her husband, Raymond; her daughters, Karran H. (Carl) Creque of Chicago, IL, Denise R. Hooks of Memphis, TN, Vikki H. (Wilbert) Singleton of Sumter, SC, and son, Raymond, Jr. of Memphis, TN, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held at T. H. Hayes Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 22, from 5-7 p.m. Burial will be in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. T. H. Hayes Funeral Home (901)774-3518
