Murlese P. Tillman, was born June 22, 1928, in Memphis, Tennessee. She was reared by loving parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Lenzie Peterson. She departed this life at the home of her loving son, Michael A. Tillman on Wednesday, December 2, 2009. Mrs. Tillman accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Metropolitan Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee. She was a 1946 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, in Memphis, Tennessee. After graduating from high school, she had a successful career working for the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, Memphis Defense Depot, and the Internal Revenue Service. Visitation is Monday, December 7, 10 -12 noon with Services to follow at 12 noon at M. J. Edwards Chapel, Elvis Presley. Interment in West Tennessee. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Irvin J. Tillman, Sr., on August 15, 1947; to this union, two sons were born, Irvin J. Tillman, Jr., and Michael A. Tillman. They enjoyed a loving marriage of fifty-two years until his passing on February 12, 2000. Mrs. Tillman leaves to cherish her memory: her sons, Irvin J. Tillman, Jr., of Memphis, Tennessee and Michael A. Tillman (Paige Tillman) of Plano, Texas; two granddaughters, Melody A. Tillman of Los Angeles, California and Jazmin A. Tillman-Townsend (Chris Townsend) of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Harold L. Peterson and Melvin Peterson, both of Memphis, Tennessee; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
