PAUL T. GOENS, 82, of Memphis, devoted husband of
Myrtle B. Goens, retired Branch Chief of Defense Depot, U.S. Army
Veteran, alumnus of Booker T. Washington Class of 1943 and Mason died on
Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at St. Francis Nursing Home. Visitation will
be held on Sunday, September 14 from 3-5 p.m. at Harrison’s Funeral Home
Chapel, 2647 Carnes Avenue. He will lie in state on Monday, September 15
from 10-10:55 a.m. at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 767 walker avenue
where he was a member of the June Birthmonth Fellowship. Funeral
Ceremony at 11 a.m. with Interment with Military Honors to follow at
West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Rd. at 2:30
p.m. Dr. Reginald Porter officiating. His son, Donald Mitchell preceded
him in death. His memories will be cherished by his sisters, Ernestine
Spencer and Gaylois G. Garrett; his brother, John W. (Louise) Goens,
Jr., all of Memphis; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
