ROBERT E. “Bob” MEBANE, SR., 89, of Memphis,
husband of sixty-one years, of Mrs. Mae Ola Mebane, retired station
manager for the U. S. Postal Service, U. S. Army WWII veteran, alumnus
of Booker T. Washington Class of 1937, alumnus of Rust College and
member of Phi Beta Sigma died on Monday, October 22, 2007. Visitation
will be held on Sunday, October 28, 2007 from 3-5 p.m. at Harrison’s
Funeral Home Chapel, 2647 Carnes Avenue. He will lie in state on Monday,
October 29, from 10-10:55 a.m. at St. John Baptist Church, 640 Vance
Avenue where he was a faithful member with Funeral Ceremony at 11 a.m.
Reverend Robert Williams, Jr. will be officiating. Interment with
military honors will follow at 1 p.m. at West Tennessee Veterans
Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Rd. He is survived by two sons, Robert
E. (Marjorie) Mebane, Jr. of Memphis, TN and Wayne E. (Carol) Mebane of
Grand Prairie, TX; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and
