OBITUARIES

 

 

ROBERT Daniel “Honey Boy” THOMAS, 80, of Memphis, husband of Lounette Johnson Thomas, alumnus of Booker T. Washington High School and Howard University, retired radio announcer/DJ of WDIA, retired radio broadcasting teacher of Memphis City Schools, member of Olivet Fellowship Baptist Church, where he served on the Deacon Board, Sanctuary Choir, Palms, October Birth month Fellowship, Sunday school, died on Friday, July 9, 2010. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 14, from 5-7 p.m. at Harrison’s Funeral Home Chapel, 2647 Carnes Avenue. Visitation Thursday, July 15 from 10-11:55 a.m. at Olivet Fellowship Baptist Church, 4450 Knight Arnold Road, with Funeral ceremony at 12 Noon. Pastor Eugene Gibson officiating. Interment Historic Elmwood Cemetery, 824 So. Dudley. His life and legacy will be cherished by his wife of thirty-two years, Lounette; his children, Cheryl Y. (Mercury) Lewis, Carolyn R. Lessard, Donald A. Thomas, Terrence G. (Helen) Thomas Andrea N. Thomas; three stepchildren, Pat West, Cheri (Al) Young and Teressa Johnson; a grand-niece he raised, Danielle Lilly, 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
